Annual Population Estimates by County

The Census Bureau's official population estimate for each Maine county on July 1 of every year since 1970, with what drove each year's change since 2000: births, deaths, people moving in from abroad and people moving in from or out to the rest of the country. Use it for a county's current population, for half a century of growth or decline, and for whether a county is growing because people are moving there or because births outnumber deaths. The years before 2020 are the Bureau's revised figures for those decades, made after each census, and the 1970 and 1980 censuses' own counts are kept beside them.
